Here We Go Again

Windows 7 Set for October 22, 2009 Release

In an ongoing effort to keep our clients up to date on the latest technology trends, SSD Technology Partners would like to remind our clients about the upcoming release of the Windows 7 Operating System. The latest Microsoft Operating System began shipping to select OEM’s in late July and is scheduled to be released to the rest of the public October 22, 2009.

As many of you may recall; when Microsoft released Windows Vista, we recommended that you test this software with your in-house systems to ensure compatibility. Due to the numerous issues surrounding Vista, many of you found that Vista would not work properly with your computer systems. You wisely chose to remain on the Windows XP platform thereby avoiding much frustration and lost productivity. With the release of Windows 7 fast approaching, we recommend that you make an effort to obtain a copy of Windows 7 to run in house and go through the compatibility testing again.

If you have a PC within your office that you are planning to replace during the next few months, we would advise that you purchase a replacement PC with the Windows 7 Operating System to test with your in-house applications. If replacement of any existing PC’s isn’t in your immediate plans, contact SSD and we will assist you in facilitating these compatibility tests. Don’t wait until the last minute to ensure your systems will be compatible. By this time next year, Windows XP will no longer be available for purchase. The only options will be to purchase new PC’s with either the Vista or the Windows 7 operating systems. While we’re not recommending a complete overhaul of your network or attempting to cause unnecessary anxiety, we are trying to get you prepared for this upcoming change. Please feel free to contact your SSD Project Manager with any questions or concerns you may have about this subject. Thank you for choosing SSD Technology Partners as your I.T. Service Provider.
